Amritsar: Sufism is something which soothes the sore hearts and pain and make up jump in the water of joy and happiness.

If we talk about sufi singing there are several takers, the Wadali Brothers (Puranchand Wadali and Pyarelal Wadali) are Sufi singers and musicians from Guru ki Wadali in the Amritsar District in Punjab, India. They make up the genre Sufi singing into more subtleness and mesmerisation.

There are some strange and peculiar facts about the Wadali brothers. Born into the fifth generation of musicians given to singing the messages of Sufi saints, the Wadali brothers tasted some unexpected of professions before they took up the sufi singing.

While Puranchand Wadali, the elder brother, was a regular visitor in akhara (wresting house) for 25 years, Pyarelal was a rasleela player and found more interest in playing the role of Krishna.

However Puranchand Wadali the change into the profession and the credit goes to his father Puranchand Wadali. Puranchand Wadali learned music from music maestro like Pandit Durga Das and Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. Pyarelal was trained by his elder brother, whom he considers his mentor and guru even today.

Their father, Thakur Das, forced Puranchand into music. Puranchand studied music from celebrated masters like Pandit Durga Das and Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan of the Patiala Gharana. Pyarelal was trained by his elder brother, whom he considers his mentor and guru even today.
