Akshata Murthy weds Rishi Sunak |

Akshata Murthy, daughter of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, on Sunday married her Stanford classmate Rishi Sunak, in a simple ceremony at Hotel Leela Palace , Bangalore.

The MArraige began with a traditional Indian wedding, followed by a typical vegetarian Karnataka lunch and reception.

This will be followed by a reception in New York in September.

Akshata, dressed in a resplendent orange ghagra-choli, and her husband Sunak, in a dapper suit, welcomed the guests at the Grand Ballroom. Attendees at the wedding were touched by the warmth and personal attention of the Murthy family.

Akshata holds 1.4 per cent stake in Infosys, at a net worth of Rs 1,600 crore

The reception was attended by over 1,000 guests from the corporate world, including Wipro Chairman Azim Premji, Biocon Chairman and Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, founder of low-cost airline, Air Deccan, Captain G.R. Gopinath, former Infosys CEO Nandan Nilekani, Titan Industries MD Bhaskar Bhat, Narayana Hrudayalaya founder and Chairman Devi Shetty, MindTree Executive Chairman Ashok Soota. Politicians included Mallikarjun Kharge, Dharam Singh and Siddaramaiah. Others were former badminton ace Prakash Padukone and ex-cricketer Syed Kirmani and theatre personality Girish Karnad.
