Preity goes out for toss with Dhoni


Napier: Bollywood star Preity Zinta was a surprise guest at the toss for the first ODI between India and New Zealand.

She was seen clapping in delight after Indian skipper MS Dhoni called right and elected to bat.

The co-owner of the IPL franchisee Kings Eleven Punjab is in New Zealand at the invitation of the New Zealand government.

"I have been invited by the New Zealand Prime Minister and will be attending the official function hosted for the Indian team on March 5 at Wellington," said Preity, who was clad in faded blue jeans and a blood-red top.

She said that she had briefly met Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Irfan Pathan before the start of the match and wished them luck.

"I met Yuvraj, Dhoni and Irfan briefly. Nothing much," the pretty star said.

She said she was disappointed with the results in the T20 series, which India lost 0-2 but hoped India will do well in the ODIs.

Talking about the fitness of Brett Lee, who is a contracted player with her IPL team, Preity said, "I have heard he has had a surgery. Let's see how it goes."
