Gulaal Pre-release Review
Gulaal MovieDirector Anurag Kashyap is all set with his post-Holi release - 'Gulaal'. Presented by Zee Limelight, the film is scheduled to hit the silver screens across India on 13th March 2009. Piyush Mishra has composed as well as written the lyrics for the songs of the movie. The star cast includes Kay Kay Menon, Raj Singh Chaudhary, Aditya Shrivastava, Mahi Gill, Piyush Mishra, Deepak Dobriyal and Ayesha Mohan. The action thriller promises to keep the audience hooked to their seats from the beginning till its end.

The film 'Gulaal' is all about love, rage, power and politics. It unfolds the story of an innocent college student Dileep (Raj Singh Chaudhary), who is pushed into politics. He arrives in Jaipur to pursue higher studies at a college, along with his faithful servant - Bhanwar (Mukesh Bhatt). In the college, he meets different types of personalities. On one hand, there is Rananjay Singh 'Ransa' (Abhimanyu Singh), an intelligent and sensitive young man, with a contemporary outlook of life. He often refuses to live according to the traditions. His vision of life is in complete contrast with his father's, who is a local 'raja' of the area.

On the other hand, there is Jadwal (Pankaj Jha), upholding the old school of thought. He is the goon of the college, who rags Dileep. Dileep also comes across Anuja (Jesse Randhawa), a professor in the college. Fate brings Dileep and Anuja together, who end up sharing a special bond with each other. He also comes across Dukey Bana (Kay Kay Menon), an important and powerful figure in the locality, who leads an army of radical Rajputs, against the Government of India, for a separate state of Rajputana. Then, there is Kiran (Ayesha Mohan), who allures him for her personal interests and uses him for attaining power.

Dukey Bana and a few ex-Royals approach Ransa to compete in the college elections, on behalf of the Rajputana party. After being convinced by them, Ransa decides to fight the elections, against Kiran, for the General Secretary's post. Rivalry gains momentum between the two groups and Ransa is compelled to withdraw from the elections. On his refusal to do so, Ransa is murdered by Karan (Aditya Srivastava), Kiran's brother. Dileep is forced to play Ransa's part in the elections. Surprisingly, he wins the elections.

Kiran, who looses the elections, decides to pursue Dileep and win his trust. In the process, she gets closer to him and pretends to have fallen in love with him. Dileep becomes highly influenced and emotionally dependent on Kiran, to take decisions, when he assumes the position of the General Secretary. This creates a gap between Anuja and Dileep. When he finds himself trapped in politics, he realizes that this is not what he really wanted. He comes to know that he is being used by Dukey for political purposes.

Soon, Dileep finds that Dukey Bana has been masking his real identity and decides to resign from the post of General Secretary. Consequently, Kiran is sworn into the position. As soon as she assumes power, she begins to avoid Dileep and refuses to meet him as well. She then tries to woo and come closer to Dukey, who has been formulating a major Rajputana movement, to have a separate state for the Rajputs. The frustrated, lovelorn and rejected Dileep decides to hit back.

The abusive and violent behavior of Dileep results in a gap between him and his loved ones. Dileep is agitated with the thought that he has been cheated by Kiran, whom he loved blindly. While the madness around him is glorified, a sense of conspiracy and the feeling of a fake and unreciprocated love push him to a series of unexpected situations, leading up to the climax. The climax of the movie reveals the new leader, whose face is painted with 'Gulaal'. To know who is hiding behind the thick layer of 'Gulaal', go and check out the movie!
