Wake Up Sid Movie Review
'Wake Up Sid' is a predictable tale of an easy-going and careless guy who meets his soul mate in a girl who is oh-so-proper. Go watch it to witness the chemistry of this unusual pairing, and even if you don't, you are not missing much in life! Got ya?

As the title of the film suggests, ‘Wake Up Sid’ is the story of Sid (Ranbir) a rich-spoilt-brat who splurges on his dad’s (Anupam Kher) money. A lazy, unmotivated and careless Sid meets Aiysha (Konkana), a newcomer in Mumbai, and they become instant friends. How they go about helping each other in sorting out their lives and how (predictably) they fall in love is what follows.
Any movie-buff can foresee the proceedings of this plot and that is what makes the film fall into the trap of mediocrity. A series of circumstances and events compel Sid to take stock of his life and he does his best to grow-up! In his pursuit, he learns to prepare a half-fry egg and value cleanliness and discipline… Yawn! Young writer-director, Ayan Mukerji does a decent job as a debutant director, but the screenplay doesn’t offer anything fresh or innovative. The film is a bit slow-paced in first half and predictable to the extent of being boring in some parts. Nevertheless, it picks up in the second half and some of the scenes have turned out well. The Kapoor lad is successful in setting the mood of the film in the very first scene. But there is a long time before Rabir can carry a film on his shoulder. Talking about his acting skills, there is not much difference between this and his last release Bachna Aye Haseeno. As expected, Koko is a natural in front of camera and a consistent performer. But how many times more will we get to see her in same styling and as someone who is ambitious and has high self-esteem (Page 3, Luck By Chance)? Other actors do not have much to do. Thankfully, most of the songs are background score for the story to progress. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music doesn’t disappoint. The title song, ‘Wake Up Sid’ is peppy and already a chartbuster. Another track, ‘Boonden’ is impressive.
