The Return of Mumbai Film Festival
The Mumbai Film Festival (MMF) will be held from October 29 to November 5, as announced by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI). The MMF will honor two extremely gifted filmmakers from India and abroad. Martin Scorsese’s long time collaborator Paul Schrader and Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi will be part of the five member international jury.
The Indian lifetime achievement award will go to Shashi Kapoor at the inaugural function on October 29. The international lifetime achievement award will go to Greek director, Angelopoulos during the closing ceremony on November 5. A range of Shashi Kapoor and Angelopoulos’s films will be shown at this occasion.
The MFF will organize an exhibition to celebrate and honor Dev Anand’s Navketan Films. International Competition for the First Feature Film of Directors, World Cinema, Indian Showcase, Dimensions Mumbai and Retrospectives are the five sections the festival will be divided into. Mumbai Young Critics is a new initiative by the MAMI to encourage young film enthusiasts. This and a lot more has been planned for the MMF.
