Anna University honours A.R. Rahman with a doctorate

A.R. Rahman received an honorary doctorate along with Deputy Chief Minister MK Stalin and Indian Space Research Organisation scientist M Annadurai in a special convocation ceremony that was held at the Anna University, in keeping with the birth centenary of late Chief Minister Annadurai. All the leading politicians and well known people in the field of education attended this event.

The speech that Dr. Anandhakrishnan, who is a former Vice Chancellor of the University and currently Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Kanpur and IIT Rajasthan, gave, he mentioned the university should be able to run without the involvement of the political influence.

A.R. Rahman spoke about the similarities between music and technology and that how he dedicates all his awards including the global awards that he received for Slumdog Millionaire to all his engineers and their contribution. MK Stalin on the other hand spoke about how the Indian universities should come up with more ground breaking new age teaching techniques for the students.
