Tum Mile stuck due to Lack of Rain

Tum Mile stuck due to Lack of Rain

Absurd as it may sound but the fact remains that Emraan Hashmi's next release is stuck because rain Gods haven't been kind to Mumbai this season. Since 'Tum Mile' is set a few years back in the times of infamous Mumbai floods, the makers want to shoot some scenes in natural rains. However, as the wait gets longer for the rainy season to kick start in Mumbai, Emraan Hashmi, Kunal Deshmukh (the film's director) and other cast and crew members of the film have been left with no other choice but to adopt a wait and watch stand.

"No, none of us have a date excuse this time around. We are willing to shoot for the film but just can't do that", jokes Emraan, "Thankfully this time around the culprit is none other than the rain God himself."

Producer Mukesh Bhatt doesn't have much to worry though. Almost entire film has already been completed in a specially designed set that recreates the Mumbai flood scene. Pending a few stock shots of Mumbai being captured in the actual rain, the shooting of 'Tum Mile' is through and the film is gearing up for it's final copy.

"But then we don't want to rush up things", details Emraan, "We want the final copy to look exactly that, i.e. a final copy. And for that, these shots form an integral part. While a couple of them would require both me and Soha being trapped in rain, a few only need the Mumbai city in background without any of us principal characters."

Why not shoot these scenes also on the sets or artificial rain? When a huge portion of the film has already been shot on the sets, what harm will it do to 'Tum Mile' if the aforementioned scenes are also captured in the same mode?

"Kunal (Deshmukh) is very particular about these scenes especially and is quite positive that actual rains will only elevate the proceedings. Since these are meant to be outdoor shots, it would look fake if we shoot with artificial rain", reasons Emraan, "In fact we were not anticipating such a situation because generally rains do arrive in Mumbai around this time. We are sitting ready with our cast, crew and equipment. It's just a matter of a few days and we are willing to wait."

'Tum Mile' was originally slated for release in June/July timeframe to coincide with the Mumbai floods anniversary. However, due to the producers' strike, the release timelines have now shifted to the month of September. In a way, this delay has been a blessing in disguise for 'Tum Mile' since the makers can now afford to take it easy, capture scenes the way they wanted and still release the film on time.

"Whatever happens indeed happens for good", quips Emraan, "Since there are so many releases waiting in queue, we have to anyways wait for while before we hit the screens. Before that, Bhatt saab's 'Jashn' is also releasing this July. Meanwhile, we continue to pray and hope that we can finish our job, complete the film and be ready for arrival this September."

Starring Soha Ali Khan in the lead, 'Tum Mile' sees Kunal Deshmukh holding the mega phone once again after 'Jannat' (which again starred Emraan Hashmi). The film has music by Pritam and expected to arrive on 13th November.
