A two-hour firefight broke out before the military launched a rocket at the van, the officials said.
Troops pulled Prabhakaran's body from the van and identified it as that of the rebel leader, they said.
"It was confirmed Prabhakaran was killed when trying to flee in an ambulance before dawn. We are waiting for the official announcement by the President," a military source said on condition of anonymity.

I thought they said he was so burnt that his face cannot be identified. Also he would of been wearing civilian clothes to blend in with them. Also he would not have been able to have a clean shave.

ReplyDeleteI am singhalese. And I am pleased to hear the news of the terrorist's death. Considering all the pain and suffering he caused to people of tamil, sinhgalese and muslim communitiies, saying that he's merely protecting tamil intrests, there's regret that he couldn't be held accountable before a due court of law and prosecuted for crimes against humanity, murder, ethnic cleansing and organized terrorism. The pain and agony his and his organizations victims, and victims' families had to go through, has come right back to them, who were seen undefeatabale and invincible. The unbearable sorrow and shocking disbelief that families of his victims felt when seeing their loved ones' corpses, charred remains, body parts of their loved ones, with their heads separated from torsos, sometimes torsos with nothing waist down.........the agonizing pain of that must be felt by his wife and two children right now after seeing the skull injuries of his corpse.

Condolences of Sri Lankan people including Singhalese people are extended to his loved ones and all those who sorrow over his demise.
Let us Sri Lankan people who had the courage and strength to fight until the end against the terrorists' expectations that we would give up, get tired and give in, get frustrated and say "i don't care...give whatever they want", congradulate our selves on our unwavering stamina. Even after facing unbearable pysical and psychological costs, terrorists couldn't break us. We kept on hoping for that day the terror would be dealt with in the manner it sould be which has happened now. Terror lost against Sri Lankan people. Barbaric acts couldn't scare us, they couldn't convince us. Our inexrpessibly brave men and boys went to face suicide bombers for the integrity of the nation and honour of the people who said "We will not be intimidated by killing of our innocent, by blowing up of our people in buses, by gunning down of pilgrims in temples, kovils and mosques, or assasinations of our leaders. We will never bow to their demands of terror and will defeat those who make them". Suicide bombers could not overpower the resolve of our brave men who faught and died in the north for the nations intergrity. We have tales to tell many generations to come of the uncompromising stand against terror of our people, and our undeterred heroes who won the nation the victory that such a nation that is uncompromising on terror had to have.
We should remember as reponsible victors, at this moment when what seemed INVINCBLE has faced defeat, that it has confirmed the timeless teaching "those who take up arms, are destroyed by arms".
They call the Tamil Tigers Terrorists while the leading cause of death in civilians is government shells... What are Tamil people not equal are they not human to be blowing them up like that just shows there are other hidden agendas in this war and that it is the governments responsibility to take care of the tamils instead of destroying them and their culture. LTTE has been the monster that destroyed economic development for Tamil, killed the Tamil Kids' chance at an education(while the leaders' kids were sent away to the West for their education. It is an irnoy that LTTE leaders agreed to a ceasefire only to get their kids out with visas/passports, and bite the govt hand that fed them and let them take care of their kids!

Even the most hardened Tamil knows in his/hear heart that Tamils, ala the poor Palestinians and those bloody Africans, should be been spending their lifetimes bettering their lifes rather than have children wage wars against Srilanka. What a sad state of affairs. If only the earlier governments had the same resolve in fnishing off LTTE earlier, we would not have come to this.
This is also a lesson for India. Whatever separatist movement that we can talk of, the game plan is only for the leaders at the top to get into leadership roles, nothing else. Take Telangana movement in Andhra, Naxalite problems in South and East, ULFA in Assam and Khalistan earlier.
Look guys whatever it is the LTTE terrorism is wiped out from Sri Lanka (Including Prabakaran) and that is something important for the country.

ReplyDeleteGuys three days have passed, we did not saw the leader again, I think he have been fucked up. Guys, try to watch a Autopsy movie. You will know how it is done, It is real as he lost the back of his head and later on washed and shaved (maybe) for taking the photo. He had killed many Tamil's too, but Govt. have done many wrong during this operation. Anyway, it was needed , for long time peace in the region.
