Twinkle Khanna , Akshay Kumar's wife, was arrested by the Vakola police for allegedly behaving in an obscene way at Lakme Fashion Week. She was later released on bail.
According to police officials, Twinkle herself surrendered before the Vakola police on Wednesday. Though Akshay was not there with her (he's out of Mumbai), she was accompanied by her lawyer Bhairav Choudhary.
She was released on a cash bail of Rs 950.
"It was a bailable offence and we released her on a bail of Rs 950 at the police station itself. We are now waiting for Akshay," Assistant commissioner of police (Vakola division) Arvind Mahabdi is quoted as saying.
Twinkle has reportedly told the cops that Akshay Kumar would complete the legal formalities after he returns to Mumbai by the end of this week.
The whole controversy started when Akshay walked the ramp for Tarun Tahiliani's Levi's show at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. At the show, Akshay, who's the ambassador of Levi's, asked his wife to unbutton his denims and she did so.
A person claiming to be a social activist had filed a complaint against Akshay, Twinkle and the show's organizers for acting obscenely in public.
The police now say the case may not be pursued further because it's "weak in law".
