Harman Baweja is all set to greet the audience in a new 'avatar', that of a cricketer, in the upcoming movie 'Victory'. Directed by Ajitpal Mangat, the film shows how quickly can success get into the head of a person, making him arrogant and conceited. It has also been produced by Ajitpal Mangat, along with Manmohan Shetty, and is all set to hit the cinema halls on 30th January 2009. The star cast includes Anupam Kher, Amrita Rao, Navjot Singh Siddhu, Allan Border, Dalip Tahil, Gulshan Grover and Mohindar Amarnath.
The story of 'Victory' revolves around the life of Ram Shekhawat and his son - Vijay (Harman Baweja). Ram has a dream; he wants to see his son as a part of the Indian cricket team. Talented and full of spirit, Vijay manages to make his father's dream come true, only to break it later. After getting a place in the cricket team, he rises to become one of its most talented batsmen. The stardom that follows his success makes him too proud and conceited and leads him away from his true vocation - cricket and gradually, his performance starts dropping.
By the time Vijay realizes his mistake, he finds himself being dropped from the cricket, on disciplinary reasons. He loses his fans and, almost, his father as well, who suffers a paralytic stroke. Devastated, Vijay vows to redeem himself and manages to get back in the team. Down with an injury, he comes to bat in the finals of Champion's trophy against Australia, when Indian is nine wickets down. After leading India to an impossible victory and regaining his father's honor, he retires from the game. He has one aim left- to teach young cricketers that cricket is all about playing for your country and your fans, not yourself.
