Slumdog Millionaire co director Loveleen Tandon speaks about how she made Danny Boyle give an Indian touch to the movie. The movie stars Dev Patel as Jamal Malik, Anil Kapoor as Prem Kumar, Saurabh Shukla as Sergeant Srinivas, Jeneva Talwar, Freida Pinto as Latika and Irrfan Khan as the police inspector. Slumdog Millionaire has already swept the critics choice awards given by the Broadcast Film Critics Association and won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Young Actor, and Best Composer ( A R Rahman) at the awards. It is signifcant because the the Critics Choice Awards have picked the Best Picture Oscar winner seven out of the last ten years (they went for Saving Private Ryan instead of Shakespeare in Love; Sideways instead of Million Dollar Baby and Brokeback Mountain instead of Crash). It might also sweep the Golden Globe awards and the Oscars although it might face some competition from The Dark Knight, The Revolutionary Road, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Reader but there are high expectations from this movie after having won more than a 20 awards and another 20 nominations within a few months of its release. The movine will release in India on January 23 and might do well in India too due to an Indian subject and a considerably huge Indian cast in the movie.
Co-director of Slumdog Millionaire Loveleen Tandon says India should be proud of this film as it is "totally" an Indian film.
