Sonam Kapoor: 'I'm not in the numbers game!'
After Sonam Kapoor's Saawariya was not so cool at the box office, the actor is banking on Mehra's Dilli 6 for some 'cool collections'! While she and Deepika Padukone made an entry into Bollywood at the same time, Deepika has to her credit two films – Om Shanti Om and Bachna Ae Haseeno – and her third movie – Chandni Chowk to China - will hit the theatre screens soon.
About why Sonam hasn't done a film so far, well she didn't want to sign any film just for the heck of it. "I wasn't getting the kind of offers I'd like. The scripts were more woman-oriented, and I didn't want to give in to anything for the sake of just doing something. I've taken my time and was happy when Rakeysh Mehra offered me to be a part of Dilli 6 ," said Sonam Kapoor from Dubai where she attended the Dubai Film Festival.
"It was a great experience," she said, "Everyone is excited about the film, but no one can be more excited about it than me," she giggles. She claims Dilli 6 to be a 'learning experience'. "What else can it be when you are sharing the frame with the likes of Waheeda Rehman, Rishi Kapoor and Om Puri. They're all stalwarts in their own right. And then of course there was Abhishek Bachchan, whom I learnt enough and more from. He is fun to work with!"
While a major part of Dilli 6 has been shot in Rajasthan, the team had their fair share of fun and bonded tremendously well on the sands of the desert. They're known to have gorged on Rajasthani speciality like the mawa kachoris ... Dilli 6 will release on February 20, 2009, and will hopefully put Sonam Kapoor back in the race. "I'm not in the number game at all. I'll take each film as it comes, and will draw my own chart at my own pace!" she says.
