'Chandni Chowk To China' is not Akshay's biography,to be release on January 16
Chandni Chowk To China has just one similarity to Akshay Kumar's real life. Apart from that the film has nothing biographical about the Bollywood star.
The movie has Akshay Kumar playing a lowly cook in Chandni Chowk before he is approached by two Chinese men who claim him to be the re-incarnation of a warrior.
At the music launch of the film on Tuesday in Mumbai, Akshay told the reporters: "The only similarity was that like myself in real life, the protagonist also works as a cook."
It is no secret that Akshay worked as a cook in Bangkok before he stepped into Bollywood. Entering the industry and making his own niche without the help of a godfather or without a filmi family to support was undoubtedly tough, but Akshay said it can be done.
"People like me and Shahrukh Khan had no forefathers in the film industry. But, we made it due to hard work and blessings of parents. If we can do it, anybody can," he said.
Speaking more about 'Chandni Chowk', Akshay told the reporters that he shares the screen space with Sir Gordon Liu, who introduced Kung-Fu to big screen many years ago.
"I always want to be my character in a film and hence practicing Kung fu was very hard…Kung Fu requires lot of discipline and the film will showcase the need for discipline in one's life," the actor said.
Akshay also shot at the Great Wall of China for a few sequences in the film. In fact, the actor claims that 'Chandni Chowk To China' is the first Bollywood film to be shot at the Great Wall.
Set for release on January 16, the movie has Akshay playing a cook who is taken to China to fight a dangerous smuggler in a village. After being beaten up in the beginning, Akshay learns Kung-Fu from a great master and takes the revenge. The film, directed by Nikhil Advani , stars Deepika Padukone in double roles.
