Mumbai terror attacks cast gloom over IFFI

  The ongoing International Film Festival of India was on Thursday shadowed by a pall of gloom following the terror attacks in Mumbai which have claimed more than 100 lives so far.

Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) Director S M Khan said delegates observed a minute's silence on Thursday before screening the first shows in all theatres.

Presenters in all screens, will, on behalf of the DFF and the Entertainment Society of Goa, make an announcement condoling the loss of lives before all screenings throughout the day.


Khan said security arrangements at IFFI venues and all hotels where celebrities and delegates from all parts of the country are staying will be reviewed.

There was no confirmation if actor Naseeruddin Shah , who was scheduled to arrive in Panaji on Thursday for the press conference of his film 'Bara Anna' which was screened on Wednesday, would be able to make it in wake of the prevailing situation, he said.

Among the dignitaries attending the IFFI are filmmakers Shyam Benegal Adoor Gopalakrishan, Girish Kasarvalli, Subhash Ghai , Sudhir Mishra , Jabbar Patel, Basu Chatterjee, Kavita Lankesh, actor Jaymala, Tara, Tabu , Revathy and Prakash Raj.
