Kuala Lumpur: Fiona Zuzartee is the new Miss MalaysiaIndian Global, while medical student Sowmya Krishnan and business management student R Gayathri were the first and the second runners up, The New Straits Times reported. On why she participated in the pageant held Sunday, Fiona said, “It had no bearing on beauty. Rather, it was about empowering women.”
Zuzartee, who aspires to be a pilot, is a product of mixed parentage - her mother is an Indian and father Portuguese - Zuzartee said she was elated. She won $4,540 (Rs 2.2 lakh) worth of jewellery and Persian carpets.
The 20-year-old holds an international hotel and tourism management degree from Kolej Da-mansara Utama.
