Early Life:
Shriya Saran was born on 11 September 1982 in Dehradun but she was brought up in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu. Her father was Pushpendra Saran, who was a BHEL employee and her mother’s name is Neeraja. She has an elder brother by the name of Abhiroop. Shriya was the student of Delhi Public School (DPS) where she completed her schooling and moved on to obtain a B.A. (Literature) degree from Lady Sri Ram College (LSR).
First break:
Shriya started her career as an aspiring model before getting into the movies! She was a part of many advertisements and music albums. Interestingly, she made her debut as an actress in a Telegu flick, Ishtam in 2001. The film itself didn’t do all that well but it made the industry sit up and take notice of this pretty actress! Her next film Santosham was also in Telegu in which she was cast opposite Nagarjuna. This movie was a major hit and Shriya was among the top actresses in Tollywood!
Career:
After a successful career in Telegu films, Shriya created the same effect in Kollywood and quickly became one of the most sought after actress in the Tamil cinema industry! Some of her famous movies were Mazhai, Enakku 20 Unakku 18, Tagore, Arjun, Nenunnanu, Bommalata, Naa Alludu and many others. Her career best film was Chatrapathi opposite Prabhas and the latest blockbuster Shivaji opposite superstar Rajnikanth! She even acted in a Hindi film titled Awaraapan opposite Imran Hashmi.
Off screen:
Shriya is passionate about dancing and is an accomplished Kathak dancer. She loves to read books and is a very spiritual person. Her favourite actor is Amitabh Bachchan and the actress she admires most is Madhubala.
