Asha Bhonsle's precious mettle, a spanking new album

SILKEN STRAINS: Asha is ageless in terms of voice and carriage and Boy George, will we vouch for that

Mumbai: Celebrated Bollywood Diva Asha Bhonsle chose International Music Day to talk about her latest album The Precious Platinum Collection.

The septuagenarian singer with the lilting and melodious voice also spoke about her connection with international audiences and what makes her ageless.

She's ruled over Bollywood music for over five decades now and at 75 Asha Bhonsle is still going strong with the release of a new album aptly titled The Precious Platinum Collection.

The singer has dedicated her latest collection of songs to all music lovers.

“People who love good music will welcome and cherish this collection. I won’t say that they will ring through all the discos in the country but at the same time, there are numbers that can be played everywhere by the younger generation, too. There are songs that can be played in discos too,” said the singer, often lovingly addressed as Asha Tai.

Conscious that it was the World Music Day, Asha Tai also had a word of praise for her international audience.

“The international audience have given me a lot of love and adulation. They understand not a single word of these Hindi songs but love the mood and melody. Instead of screaming ‘once more’ like many others, these audience just clap rhythmically to get an encore,” said the singer.

And of course we couldn't wrap the interview without a word from the singer about her being a timeless Diva

The lady seems to have stopped age in its tracks, not just where her singing is concerned, but also where her looks matter.

She does not look her age and is often quizzed by girls about the secrets to her looks.

“I tell them that if you carry a pure heart, it will show on your face. Smile always and add to your face value,” suggested the Diva.
