Spicezee BureauMumbai, Sept 09: Melody queen Asha Bhosle’s daughter Varsha Bhosle has been hospitalised after she made an attempt to commit suicide on Tuesday.

Varsha, who is a journalist and a freelance writer working with a well-known publishing house in Mumbai, tried to commit suicide by consuming a dangerously high dose of sleeping pills.

Varsha, 50 years old, stays by herself in a locality same as her mothers’. She was rushed to the Jaslok hospital after she was found in an unconscious state by her maidservant.

The second of Asha’s three children, Varsha has worked as a columnist for The Sunday Observer and Rediff.

Though the family has kept mum on the reason behind the suicide, it is being believed that a private problem may have driven Varsha to take such a drastic step.

A section of media even reported that she could have reacted adversely to a medicine she had been consuming.

As of now Varsha is out of danger and is under medical observation.


Legendary singer Asha Bhosle’s daughter Varsha was early Tuesday admitted to hospital here after she took an overdose of medicine.Varsha, 51, was rushed to the Jaslok Hospital at 4.30 a.m. by a family member.

“It is not a suicide attempt. She took an overdose of some medicine. She is now in the ICU,” a senior police officer told IANS.

Varsha, a journalist, is a divorcee.

J.D. Sonawala, the doctor who is attending to her, refused to comment on the matter.
