Singh is Kinng UK Box Office Report

Akshay Kumar - Katrina Kaif starrer Singh Is Kinng has emerged as the
UK's biggest blockbuster of 2008 grossing over 1.01 million pounds in
the first 13 days of its release.

The film's production house claimed on Wednesday that it is Akshay's
first entry into the UK's Millionaire Club. The film was released in
50 places.

'Singh Is Kinng' has also been invited for a gala presentation at the
Toronto International Film Festival to be held from September 4 to 13.

"I am happy and honoured that 'Singh Is Kinng' has been invited for
such a prestigious festival. It has done extremely well not only in
India but abroad as well," producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah said.

He said he had received invitation for the film's presentation from
the Toronto International Film Festival Group (TIFFG).

The film directed by Anees Bazmee is a romantic comedy and revolves
around a gang of dreaded criminals who are transformed by a good man
and his selfless love for a pretty girl.

The film is among the 20 "special" films that will be screened at the
Toronto International Film Festival, which will also see the premiere
of Deepa Mehta 's Heaven On Earth .

Preity Zinta , Akshay, Nandita Das and Bazmee from Bollywood and
former cop Kiran Bedi are among the 500 international stars and
special guests who have been invited to the fest.

The festival will also feature works of Shekhar Kapoor and Mira Nair
in 'New York, I Love You', which is a medley created by weaving
together 12 films by internationally reputed filmmakers.

Apart from the world premiere of Mehta's 'Heaven On Earth', where
Preity plays a repressed woman in Toronto, the director's 'Sam And Me'
will also be showcased at the fest as part of a presentation called
'Dialogues: Talking with Pictures'.

Mehta will discuss how 'Sam and Me' helped launch her career in the
early 1990s. The film is the story of Sam Cohen, a cranky older Jewish
man, and Nichol, the Indian man who is hired to take care of him. It
brings to the screen their warm but complex relationship across the
ethnic divide.

The film festival that ends September 13 will showcase a total of 312 films.
