Super star Shah Rukh Khan has denied reports that he quit smoking according to an interview he had given to Malayalam daily, Malayala Manorama.
The daily had reported that he quit smoking for the sake of his kids. But asked on Monday whether he would give up cigarettes, King Khan replied with a terse “No”. He also denied that he would consider the option in the near future.
Shah Rukh Khan had reportedly told the leading Kerala daily Malayala Manorama that he thought of quitting smoking while he traveled 17 hours on a flight without lighting a cigarette.
“The idea of quitting cropped up during a 17-hour flight,” Shah Rukh was quoted as saying. “So if I can do without smoking in flight, I am sure I can do without it on land too.”
For some time back, Shah Rukh Khan had been embroiled in a public spat with health minister Anbumani Ramadoss for smoking in public as it would set a bad example for youngsters. The interview was conducted at Pollachi in Tamil Nadu where SRK is shooting for Billo Barber, directed by Priyadarshan.
The initial reports might have mad e the health minister happy. But now its back to square one for the Shah Rukh- Ramadoss spat regarding smoking in films.
