After wowing the audience with his intense portrayal of the gangster Maya Dolas in Shootout At Lokhandwala , Vivek Oberoi will now be seen playing a Turkish commando.

Vivek's character in Apoorva Lakhia’s upcoming film Mission Istanbul repeatedly saves the life of Vikas Sagar ( Zayed Khan ) who plays a journalist. Vivek’s character Rizwan battles armed gunmen and shrugs it off as just another day in his life.

"During the shooting of Lokhandwala, Appu ( Apoorva Lakhia ) showed me the story and asked what role I would like to play. ‘Rizwan Khan,’ I said, ‘who else’?," says the actor on his role in the film.

On similarities between himself and his character in ‘Mission Istanbul’, he says, "Both, Rizwan and me have tough exteriors but are soft inside."

On what kind of research he does before playing a character, Vivek says, "If I am playing a fictitious character I try and prepare a background sketch of what kind of socio-economic class the person comes from. This sketch always runs as a sub-text in my mind when I am shooting for a scene."

Speaking about the positives of being an actor, Vivek said: "The up side of being an actor is that when I am crying in that dark room called the theater, there are people crying with me."

Vivek, who claims to have an adventurous bone, thoroughly enjoyed doing all the stunts in the film.
