Sushmita Sen

Sushmita Sen

It is a strange fixation, but I cannot refer to myself as I. My sentences never start that I went to the market. Rather, they start as Sushmita went to the market. This is something that I have always done, but it never struck me.

Once when I was giving interviews for the promotion of Kalpana Lajmi’s film, Chingari, where I play the protagonist, a journalist pointed it out to me. Throughout the course of the interview, we were discussing myself as another person. I would refer to my opinions as Sushmita feels that...

This third person reference to myself is something I have seen very few people do. As I sit to reason out my way of expression I realize that I can look at myself very objectively and can study my responses to various things around me from a distance. But am I judging myself? No.. for sure, but I like to study myself and see how Sushmita responds to things and people around her. See how easily I have slipped into the third person.. Well, that’s me.. Sushmita Sen.
