Irrfan is now a Tamil
Irrfan was not sure if he would play a Tamil or Malayalam character in Mumbai Meri Jaan till the day of the shoot. However, once he came on the set, he decided to play the character and the reason behind it is an assistant director.
It so happened that Irrfan likes to prepare for his roles, but he was not confident that he could pronounce the words with a Tamil accent. But one of the assistants on the set went up to the National Award actor and convinced him that he would he help him out since he was a Tamilian. And so the actor took coaching classes on diction before each dialogue, so that he not only looked the part, but also sounded the part. That’s what we call a perfect actor, right?
