Jannat Premiere in Lahore
Mahesh Bhatt isn't only a filmmaker but also a maker or ratherdiscoverer of new talents in singing and acting. Besides, he discovers
talents from across the border, too. He is very happy that what he
calls his 'ridiculous' dream of getting one of his movies premiered
across the border of India, in Pakistan, has come true. Mahesh's
latest movie 'Jannat', which is co-produced by Pakistan's Suhail Khan
opened to a gala premier in Lahore's Gulistan studio with the entire
star cast of the film present today (May 13th). Bhatt believes that
mutual trust is the only way for the two countries (India & Pakistan)
to prosper and the beginning has already been made through creative
exchange.
He, however, refuses to take the entire credit for it saying, "It is a
triumph of all those sane people who have refused to gravitate towards
the philosophy of hatred." When asked about the fear of Pakistani film
producers and directors that Indian film industry is trying to take
over Pakistani film industry, Bhatt says, "I think the fear of
Pakistani film industry is very legitimate. Indian filmmakers need to
behave more sensibly and responsibly. The audio-visual medium is too
powerful to be in the hands of few people. They have every right to
tell their story. We can not monopolize," he cautions our filmmakers.
