As of now, the first off the block, at least on record, is Spectra Multimedia Films’ Savitri Bhabhi.com, which is supposed to go on the floors sometime in November.
According to a spokesperson from Spectra, this will be a story of a south Indian couple, wherein the husband has had to take up an assignment abroad and the advertising hotshot wife stays back in Mumbai. The lonely, homesick husband, who finds firangis clearly not his type, starts a website, where lonely hearts pour out their sexual angst and he plays agony uncle to these souls. And then by some curious twist of serendipity, his wife becomes the main contributor to the website.
“The content of the website will naturally be sexual in nature and where Savita Bhabhi would lower her pallu and drop her blouse at the slightest hint of hormonal surge from the other side, in our film, it will be the posts and interactions between users that will be sexually loaded,” says the spokesperson.
Why a south Indian family? “South Indians are thought to be more conservative and we want to place this story in the context of a woman who has her sexual needs, but, no matter how highly she’s placed or empowered, she is required to suppress or even kill it. Apart from that, we had south Indian heroines in our mind when drawing up the storyboard,” says the source.
So, who’ll be Savita Bhabhi?
That is not going to be easy, but we have a few names. We were keen on Rituparna Sengupta, but she backed out because the idea of doing the few nude scenes that this movie demands did not appeal to her sensibilities. There are some who think Sherlyn Chopra would be the ideal bhabhi.
But right now, the most probable choice is Krrishika Gupta, of the Neetu Chandra photo shoot fame.”
Some sources say that the team has already approached Sushmitha Sen too for this role.
