Kaminey insured against Swine Flu

Kaminey insured against Swine Flu

The four day shut down of cinema halls in Mumbai and Thane area and almost a week's closure for those in Pune area have made a severe dent in the earnings of films such as Love Aaj Kal, Life Partner, but not much for Kaminey.

The reason being, they were in a slightly better position to handle the loss than the producers of the other films. That is because Kaminey had been insured for loss of profit due to various reasons. One such reason was the closure of cinemas due to outbreak of epidemic etc. Of course, the loss of profit would first have to be determined before UTV, the producers of Kaminey, can claim the compensation from the insurance company (Marsh).

And that would take some time, as actual box-office collections of the film from the rest of India would have to be taken into account. The insurance company would need to study the estimates of loss of profit calculated by UTV and compare box-office collections of Mumbai with other parts of India for other films before it can arrive at the figure of loss of profit.
