Oye Lucky Lucky Oye Movie Review

So, being a punjabi i was really excited to watch this movie. Reasons? The Soundtracks of the movie which i can't get enough of. I think its one of the best album of this year if you are punjabi or has any taste in punjabi music. Secondly, Abahay Deol.. comes from Punjabi family of bollywood and has an exceptional acting skills. If you havn't watched "Socha Na Tha" his debut movie yet, better get a DVD and watch it today. He can carry roles like a cream without any efforts shown. Third, the movie comes from makers of "Khosla Ka Ghosla" what a surprise package that movie was. Infact "Khosla Ka Ghosla" started the trend of movies like these, movies like Aamir, A Wednesday.. small budget simple storyline and great Cinema.

UTV has been promoting debutant , young directors lately and most of them havn't disappointed. Oye Lucky doesn't disappoint either, It captures the life of middle lower class family of Delhi. Lucky as a young sardar boy is cute, yet speks in delhi accent with hint of punjabi. Paresh rawal excels as Truck Driver father of 3. You will be laughing all the way during this period of movie. Some scenes are original, simple and hilarious. Another thing wihich you won't see in other movies is the screen time the director gave to lucky's childhood. Thats sets the story up, lucky is fond of electorincs, shades, cars and thats what  is shown in this part.

Once he grows up, he gets into gang of gaga bhai.. 9again played by paresh rawal). He shows his skills as an exceptional and cool theif, he does most of the thefts in day light with ease and you fell in love with thi character. Lucky does not want to work under someone and always looks for making more profit.
The movie does not follow the usual bollywood plot where hero always gets his revengs on bad guys, it just shows Lucky's life and does not depict him as a hero in anyways.

without killing the whole suspense of what the movie is all about, i will end the story review here only. Regarding characters, Abhay Deol is Exceptional, his friend Bengali has done a commendable job. Paresh Rawal excels in all 3 roles he has played. 5 stars to the kids who have played the role of lucky and bengali in childhood. The surd guy was exceptional and you could see lucky coming out of him. Neetu chandra does not have much to play, but her sister (Dolly) in the movie is the one to watch out for. People from Delhi will love her character, she speaks proper Delhi accent and does full justice to her role.

The music of the movie is exceptional and goes well with the movie, only issue with it is that its all punjabi and people not from north might not like it.

Overall i Got what i expected from this movie, and will give it a full 5 star. the movie is of the same league as of AAmir and A Wednesday (both from UTV Production house also)
