Neil Nitin Mukesh to play a jailbird

Neil Nitin Mukesh to play a jailbird

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh will play an under-trial in director Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Jail .

After exposing the dark realities of the glitzy and glossy world of fashion in his upcoming film Fashion , Bhandarkar will bring to the fore the grim lives of prisoners in his next project ‘Jail’.

To play the role of an under-trial in the movie, the director has roped in last year’s newcomer Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Several theories are floating around regarding the theme of the film.

Some say the film is about a young lad who is imprisoned while his case is still in the courts and spends a traumatically long time behind bars even as he is yet to be declared guilty in the eyes of law. The story seems inspired from the real tales of several undertrials who have languished in jails for years and served longer time than what they were finally sentenced.

Another round of reports say the film is about a young guy who goes behind the bars in a case of drunken driving in which he mows down several people after returning from a late night party.

The story seems particularly relevant in the wake of many such real incidents lately.

Bhandarkar, however, refuses to divulge anything about ‘Jail’. He says he is presently working on the post-production of ‘Fashion’. He still has to shoot a few sequences for the film in Paris.

Bhandarkar will begin ‘Jail’ only after he is through with ‘Fashion’.
