Shahrukh's Sorry To Manoj Kumar

Shahrukh's Sorry To Manoj Kumar

In an attempt to appease veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who is upset over certain sequences of the recently released ‘Om Shanti Om’, actor/producer SRK and director Farah Khan have apologised to him.

Shah Rukh and Farah appeared before the media and cleared their stand in the matter. SRK revealed that he will meet Manoj Kumar over tea adding that he had cordial talks with him.

The duo have called him up and expressed their apologies. Shah Rukh Khan has said that he had not intended to make fun of him. He further added, “I don’t think Manoj Kumar said anything in person. I respect him a lot and we should have been careful. He should watch our film.”

When asked whether Manoj Kumar was over-reacting, they said it was not so as he belonged to a different era and people of that era behaved in a certain way. Farah Khan also offered to cut the scene but Manoj Kumar said that there was no need.

Manoj Kumar was extremely distressed in the morning over the issue. The veteran actor was reportedly so agitated that he was even contemplating a legal action against Shah Rukh Khan for what he alleged was “a conspiracy to humiliate and ridicule” him.

The actor had said that the scene in the movie where his young double is shown being beaten up by the Police outside a theatre was extremely disrespectful towards him.

In yet another scene, Shah Rukh is shown giving a mock thank-you speech in a drunken state and later saying that he is Manoj Kumar.

Also known as ‘Bharat’ Kumar, for the inherent patriotic flavour in his movies, Manoj had lashed out at the director Farah Khan saying, “This is not film making”.

Om Shanti Om, Farah Khan’s second directorial venture after Main Hoon Na, is creating waves in the Indian as well as the overseas markets and is poised to end up as one of the year’s biggest hits.
